Online Continuing Education Certificates
Our online certificates may be a great resource if you are looking for a structured way to extend your study, or if you need to document your preparation to volunteer for ministry in your parish or school.
Online Continuing Education Certificate Options
Active participation in a minimum of听30 weeks听from these categories:
- Themes from Our Christian Tradition, 5 weeks
- Sacraments and Liturgy, 5 weeks
- The Moral Life, 5 weeks
- Spirituality and Prayer,听 5 weeks
- Scripture, 5 weeks
- Plus one of the following:
Active participation in a minimum of听30 weeks听from these categories:
- Scripture, 10 weeks
- Sacraments, 5 weeks
- Additional selection from Scripture, Sacraments and Liturgy, or Preaching (in听Ministries听area), a minimum of 10 weeks
- Plus听Liturgy Essentials, 5 weeks
We recommend听The Psalms: Prayers for All Times听as one of the Scripture courses since the Psalms are integral to our celebration of liturgy.

- Active participation in a minimum of听30 weeks听from these categories: 听
- The Joy of the Gospel, 5 weeks
- Adult Faith Formation for a Vibrant Church, 5 weeks
- Plus a minimum of 20 weeks of courses, with at least one course drawn from each of these areas:
Active participation in a minimum of听30 weeks听from these categories:
- Spirituality and Prayer, a minimum of 17 weeks, including at least one of the following:
- Mapping Your Inner Landscape, 5 weeks
- Spirituality Matters, 5 weeks
- Scripture, 10 weeks
- Plus听Spiritual Practices, 3 weeks

Active participation in a minimum of听30 weeks听from these categories:
- The Synoptic Gospels, 9 weeks
- Plus one of the following:
- The Gospel of John,听5 weeks
- OR听John in Holy Week and Easter,听 3 weeks
- Additional selections from听Scripture, for a minimum of 16 weeks

Active participation in a minimum of听30 weeks听of courses.

Active participation in a minimum of 30 weeks from these categories:
Mission and Spirituality: A Xaverian Journey, 6 weeks (required)
Ordinary Sacredness: Xaverian Spiritual Values for Everyday Life, 6 weeks (required)听
Plus four additional courses, which are 5 to 6 weeks in length, with one course from each of the following areas:听听

Download the certificate worksheet (found in the dropdown sections above)
Register for courses that satisfy the requirements outlined in the certificate worksheets
Complete each course qualifying for active participation (three substantive posts each week)
After finishing required courses, fill out your worksheet, and email it to crossroads@bc.edu

- Each course can only be counted towards one certificate
- A course qualifies for a certificate if taken within the last five years
- A course may only be used once for any certificate
Accessing a Certificate of Active Participation

Through the Mail or Canvas
You can keep track of your own work toward the certificate, then email us (crossroads@bc.edu) with the worksheet filled out for the one you are seeking. We will review our records of your participation, and if you qualify we will mail a formally printed and signed copy to your address. You may also access your certificate through Canvas (see video on left).听
